Rory McIlroy has hammered James Hahn for missing today’s PGA Tour player meeting.

The meeting, which took place at 7.30am local time this morning, wasn’t attended by Hahn, who has been very outspoken on the recent changes to the PGA Tour.

• Rory: LIV has benefitted every professional golfer

• Full Swing is back!

According to Dylan Deither, Hahn skipping the meeting did not go down well with McIlroy, who spoke out in favour of the changes at his pre-tournament press conference this morning.

The Northern Irishman, who won the PLAYERS Championship in 2019, said: “Like, you say all this s— and you’re not even in the meeting? If you want to get informed and be a part of the process – the fact that he wasn’t even in the room was a slap in the face to everyone there.”

Hahn has previously called out the changes, saying that he “hates them,” and that the “PGA Tour covering up what they’re doing and trying to make it a thing about sponsors and fans and saving opposite-field events, I think that’s all BS.”

Hahn, who is currently the world No. 305, also previously told Golfweek that he believes the new schedule is in place purely to line the pockets of top players.

“All the big names that are talking about this ‘new product,’ if you just came out and said, ‘Hey, we’re doing this for the money,’ they want more guaranteed money and this is another way to funnel more money to the top players in the world, I’d have a lot more respect for them.

• The PLAYERS: Prize money breakdown

• The PLAYERS: Round 1 tee times

“Right now, they’re just covering their ass and saying everything that the PGA Tour basically has trained them to say, have taught them to say and try to make it not about money when everyone knows 100 percent it’s about more guaranteed money being funnelled to the top players in the world.

“We’ve been talking about money for the last two years and for them not to say that that’s not the No.1 reason why they’re making these changes – it’s very, very hypocritical.”
