RORY MCILROY | US OPEN

Rory McIlroy finished with three consecutive bogeys to tie his worst round at a US Open with a seven-over-par 77 at Oakmont.

The 27-year-old cited swing problems as a reason for his opening round struggle, which finished early on Friday morning, but stats would suggest that the four-time major winner was struggling in all departments.

Fairways hit: 5 out of 14 (36%)
Field average: 58%

Greens hit: 8 out of 18 (44%)
Field average: 56%

No. of putts: 34 (Avg: 1.89)
Field average: 1.73

Afterwards, McIlroy, who is already in real danger of missing the cut as he sits 11 shots adrift of current leader Andrew Landry, told Golf Channel’s Randall Mell:

Rory McIlroy now won’t tee off until Saturday morning for his second round after tee times were revised.
