Look closely at the picture of Rory McIlroy, above.

What do you notice?

If you’re a keen horologist – that’s somebody who has a passion for watches, FYI – then your eyes will be surely be drawn to the spectacular timepiece on the Irishman’s wrist.

A long-time Omega ambassador, two-time PLAYERS champion McIlroy is wearing one of the Swiss brand’s DeVille Tourbillon CO-AXIAL Chronometer watches.

And it’s extremely expensive.

We’ll get to that in a second. First, some info.

• The price of Bubba Watson’s watch will make your eyes water

• Check out Justin Thomas’ stunning watch

A truly remarkable piece, it has a case made from 18k ‘red gold’, a proprietary copper and silver alloy renowned for being extremely corrosion resistant and hypoallergenic.

The non-rotating bezel and deployment buckle are also made from red gold, complemented by a classy-looking black alligator leather strap.

The DeVille Tourbillon is one of several Omega watches McIlroy has modelled in trophy photos over the years.

Others include a Speedmaster ‘57 and a Seamaster Aqua Terra Ultra Light, which the four-time major champion helped to develop.

He first joined the brand as an ambassador in 2013. “Omega has a rich history in sport, both with the Olympics and in golf, and I have always had great experiences playing in its events,” he said at the time.

“I have been a fan of the brand for a long time so to now be an Omega ambassador is special for me.”

But back to the DeVille Tourbillon.

You’re no doubt wondering how much it would set you back.

Current estimates put it at around $137,000. Correct: one-hundred and thirty-seven thousand pounds.

Pocket change to McIlroy, of course. He could afford to buy 32 of them with his PLAYERS Championship winner’s cheque.

Meanwhile, his career earnings on the US circuit – a cool $99.7million – would be enough to buy 727 of them.

Nice work if you can get it!
