Oh, what a day.

If you missed it, what on earth have you been doing? Now go and read all about Scottie Scheffler’s arrest – but make sure you hurry back, because there’s lots to get through.

Here’s what you may have missed from what was almost certainly the most hectic Friday at a major in, well, ever…

Memefield

Now, we all know social media is a cesspit, but sometimes – just sometimes – it can be a force for good. It can bring people together like no other platform on earth, and Golf Twitter – because we refuse to call it Golf X – really came into its own as our very own World No 1 was cuffed and booked by a particularly highly-strung cop in the early hours of Friday morning as he made his way into Valhalla Golf Club for the second round of the PGA Championship.

As you can imagine, it was festival of memes over on Elon’s plaything. So, just for you, we’ve gathered a few of our favourites.

And who are we to miss out on the fun? Here are some of the best from the bunkered team…

Caption Competition

“Quick! What shall we put? World No 1? Two-time Masters champion?”

“I know…”

Scheff to a T

How the hell did these guys get these T-shirts made so quickly?

Still, at least Scottie Scheffler got to see them. Difficult to say whether or not he’s impressed…

Great Scott

By the way, Scheffler went out and shot 66 right after LITERALLY BEING PUT IN JAIL!

As pointed out by Kyle Porter, these are the American’s competitive rounds so far in 2024:

63: 1
64: 3
65: 3
66: 10
67: 4
68: 7
69: 4
70: 6
71: 2
72: 1
73+: 0

Is… is that good?

Walk of Life

In more serious news, there have been numerous reports of shoddy traffic management getting in and out of Valhalla this week. While the incredibly sad death of John Mills, a local resident who was working as a security guard at the PGA Championship, added to the backlog, it led to at least two players eventually decided to abandon their courtesy cars and walk to the grounds…

The Athletic‘s Gabby Herzig, meanwhile, spoke to Zalatoris following his round.

“He walked two miles to make it to the course this morning with Cam Young and Austin Eckroat,” she posted on X. “Took them over two hours to make it inside the gates. Was very critical of the set-up for entry this week—he even told his parents on Monday not to come because it was such a mess.”

She also revealed Zalatoris said several “unnamed players considered approaching the PGA of America about the cancellation or delay of Friday’s play”, adding that “the discussion took place in the locker room”.

Zalatoris, she wrote, said: “Some of the guys were wondering if we should even play today.”

This is not a good look for the PGA.

Hov a go hero

Love it or hate it, J.Lindeberg knows how to makes its tour stars stand out. On Thursday it was Viktor Hovland’s leopard print trousers…

And on Friday it was – well, whatever this is…

Answers on a postcard.

And finally…

Yes. Yes we can.
