Dr Alister MacKenzie, the co-creator of Augusta National Golf Club, designed the course at Pollok which claims to be “arguably Scotland’s finest city suburban course”. Situated on the south of the city in the secluded mature woodland of Pollok Country Park, it is a fantastic test for high and low handicappers alike, with tight, tree-lined fairways demanding your full attention off the tee.

Cawder (Championship)

Located in Bishopbriggs, just to the north of Glasgow, Cawder Golf Club is home to two terrific 18-hole layouts: the delightful Keir Course and its big sister, the Championship Course. Meandering through gently rolling parkland, framed by mature trees, it is a superb test for players of all standards, particularly on the back nine, where the 14th and 15th holes have been the undoing of many a good score down the years.

The home club of the late great Charlie Green – one of Scotland’s most decorated amateur golfers of all time – Cardross is a splendid parkland track that is conveniently located only 20 minutes from Glasgow airport and just six miles from the world-renowned Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Large undulating fairways are a particular feature of this excellent course, which quite often plays much longer than the yardage suggests. The views over the River Clyde, meantime, are pretty special.
