Scottish Golf Bucket List: South West Scotland

From a golfer’s perspective, there is much to love and admire about the South West of Scotland.

For one thing, it is the ‘Birthplace of The Open’ and is home to three of the 14 courses that have staged golf’s oldest and most prestigious championship since its inception in 1860, as well as numerous qualifying venues.

It is also the place to find some of the country’s most unheralded layouts – both inland and by the sea – as well as the gateway to some of the very best island golf that Scotland has to offer.
