Sky Sports commentator Ewen Murray has hit out at Tyrrell Hatton live on air following the Ryder Cup star’s latest angry on-course outburst.
Hatton, 33, was captured snapping a club in frustration after hitting his third shot into the par-5 14th on the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates during the third round of the DP World Tour Championship.
That prompted veteran play-caller Murray to insist that the time has come for the notoriously hot-headed Englishman to mend his ways.
“Oh no,” lamented the Sky Sports man as the camera continued to track the flight of Hatton’s ball. “It’s time for change, I’m afraid. That’s a terrible influence on the next generation.

“I’m sorry to say it. I’m his biggest supporter as a golfer.”
As the channel broadcast the replay, Murray added: “Just have a look at this. Why? Why would you do that?
“We’ve all had our moments but he’s having too many of them.”

Hatton has become almost as famous for his angry outbursts as for his play.
However, speaking in the latest edition of bunkered, on-sale now from all good newsagents, he defended himself, saying that his volatile temperament is part of the reason he has been so successful.
“Everyone’s entitled to their opinion,” said Hatton. “Unfortunately it’s just the sad state of the world where people like being very negative towards guys that they see on TV.

“They don’t know them personally. They’re quite happy to dish out as much negativity towards that person as they want to. It’s not going to change who I am. I’m just being me. It is what it is.
“I’ve always been that way since I was a kid,” he added. “Just quite expressive and you always know where you stand with me. Ultimately, I’m just out there trying my best and I want everything to be perfect and I get frustrated with myself and other things when it’s not.
“Sometimes I’ll say something positive and it just turns to s***. I’m better off just being negative and it can only get better from there.”
