Welcome to this week’s Social Eyes. The playoffs get underway this week as Bethpage Black hosts The Barclays.
One thing we didn’t expect to happen, though, was for #playoffmustache to become a thing.
Justin Thomas tweeted a poll to his followers on Monday night suggesting he could join Rickie Fowler in growing some facial hair over the next four weeks.
So @RickieFowler and I are thinking of starting a little #playoffmustache.. What you guys think??
— Justin Thomas (@JustinThomas34) August 22, 2016
With 9,507 votes, the result was pretty resounding. Rickie was quick to share his thoughts.

Jimmy Walker’s wife Erin, meanwhile, was quick to fire shots at Thomas’ baby-face looks.
@JustinThomas34 @RickieFowler can you even grow a mustache JT?!

Then Morgan Hoffman revealed he’s already stolen a march on the pair.

Rory McIlroy returns this week after last being seen at last month’s PGA Championship.
We haven’t heard much from the four-time major champ since but he was spotted celebrating Conor McGregor’s UFC win at the weekend with One Direction’s Niall Horan and the man himself.

What a week for Matt Fitzpatrick. He secured his spot in the European Ryder Cup team AND won a year’s supply of beer. The Pilsner Urquell’s are on him!
This 330 yard drive from @MattFitz94 on the 9th hole yesterday won the 21 year old a year’s supply of beer.https://t.co/haTG1yslPg

It has only been a few weeks since Australian golfer Robert Allenby found himself in trouble with the law again. You’d think now would be a good time to lay low and let it all pass, right?
Not Allenby. He’s been caught up in a very cringeworthy Twitter battle with fellow Australian pro Aron Price.
It all began with the now deleted tweet from Aron Price discussing the similarities between Robert Allenby and Ryan Lochte’s recent high profile stories.
Allenby didn’t take kindly to the tweet and quickly responded.
@aronpricePGA do you still play golf ?
— Robert Allenby (@aussieallenby) August 21, 2016
It all went a bit mental after that. Here are some of the key tweets:
@aronpricePGA what have you won ? — Robert Allenby (@aussieallenby) August 21, 2016
@aussieallenby I won the Kareela junior club champs. Get that up ya — Aron Price (@aronpricePGA) 21 August 2016
@aronpricePGA your amazing see you soon face to face — Robert Allenby (@aussieallenby) 21 August 2016
@aronpricePGA you should show some respect , you crossed the line , too late for you MATE
— Robert Allenby (@aussieallenby) August 21, 2016
And it all finished with this:
@aronpricePGA I’m so f ing great you could never imagine — Robert Allenby (@aussieallenby) August 21, 2016
With the Olympics in Rio having finished on Sunday, what better way to look back on the experience than through the eyes of golf’s first gold medallist since 1904.
Well, pretty much a week of a lifetime!! Honoured and proud to have represented @TeamGB #olympics #Rio2016 #GBR pic.twitter.com/GWQQ7QrQ0k — Justin Rose (@JustinRose99) August 17, 2016
What’s the best way to relax after the Olympics? If you’re Bubba Watson, heading to your own ice cream and sweet shop of course.
What about this for a group at last week’s Web.com Tour event!
All they needed was Mr Thin, Mr Top and Mr Duff playing in the group behind and they would describe my weekly medal round perfectly.
You don’t want to run into any of these three on the golf course …

And finally…
Zach Johnson took part in a #AskZachGolf chat on social media on Tuesday night. Surely he can’t blame this slip-up on auto correct?
