There was a dramatic end in Hawaii on Sunday, as the Sony Open, the PGA Tour’s first full-field event of the season, went all the way.
Four rounds and 72 holes couldn’t determine a winner, but Nick Taylor needed only one hole to prevail in a play-off.
The Canadian pipped Nico Echavarria after holing out an eagle chip on the 18th hole to force a shootout at Waialae Country Club.
Now a five-time winner on the circuit, Taylor netted just over $1.5 million for the victory and moved up to world No.29.
Echavarria, meanwhile, earned almost $1 million, as he aimed to win a PGA Tour event for the third consecutive year.
