Ever fancied running your own golf course?

Well, you could be in luck.

South Buckinghamshire Golf Course, an established 18-hole venue, has arrived on the market. The Buckinghamshire Council is looking for a tenant to look after the course, which is based in Stoke Poges near Slough.

The parkland course, which was first used for farming in both the First and Second World Wars, is available to let as a whole or in parts alongside a number of other sporting facilities.

“The course has many established trees and ditches crossing the fairways, plus a small practice area, two practice nets and a practice putting green,” said Andrew Chandler, spokesperson for the course’s property consultant Carter Jones.

“It has lovely scenery, a great variety of holes and several subtle elements that make every round both enjoyable and challenging.”

There’s also modern-looking clubhouse and a golf pro shop, but it’s not just the golf that the council is hoping will attract outside interested.

“Padel Tennis UK has installed two courts on a sub lease at the course too,” Chandler added.

An adjacent playing field complex also includes six full-size football pitches, two rugby pitches and the only purpose-built baseball pitches of their kind in the UK. All in all, the total site at South Buckinghamshire covers 204 acres.

Put it this way, you won’t be short of land.

The course itself was originally a 9-holer and re-opened in 1975. It was extended to a full 18-hole layout by course designer Martin Hawktree in 1982 and remains a popular venue today.

For those interested in South Buckinghamshire Golf Course, lease proposals need to be submitted to Carter Jones by 28 February, 2025.
