Suzanne Pettersen and Team Europe now know the US Solheim Cup team they’ll face next month.

The Norwegian’s opposite number, Stacy Lewis, has named three wildcards to complete the American team that will head to Virginia.

Joining the nine automatic qualifiers is Jennifer Kupcho, Sarah Schmelzel and Lexi Thompson.

It looks set to be a final Solheim Cup for Thompson as a player after the 29-year-old announced her plans to retire at the end of the year.

This will be her seventh consecutive Solheim Cup, however, accruing a record of nine wins, seven draws and seven losses.

Kupcho, 27, is without a win on tour this year but was selected for her third consecutive cup after being a member of the teams in 2021 and 2023.

And there will be a fourth rookie on the US team, as Schmelzel has been handed a Solheim Cup debut.

The 30-year-old recorded four straight top-ten finishes earlier in the season and, despite being winless on tour, finished second in June’s Dow Championship team event alongside Ally Ewing.

The trio join seven American players who qualified via the US Solheim Cup team points standings.

They were: Nelly Korda, Lilia Vu, Lauren Coughlin, Ewing, Allisen Corpuz, Megan Khang and Andrea Lee.

Meanwhile, Rose Zhang and Alison Lee secured their spot on the team as the two highest Americans in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings not among the top seven points qualifiers.
