Min Woo Lee earned his first PGA Tour win on Sunday at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, but he won in nail-biting fashion.
The 26-year-old Aussie once held a five-shot lead during the final round at Memorial Park before closing the deal by one shot over Scottie Scheffler and Gary Woodland.
As well as a maiden title on US soil, Lee bagged a cool $1.71 million.
It was part of a boosted prize money payout at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, where a share of $9.5 million was up for grabs. It was also the largest purse of the season so far, outside the Signature Events.
Meanwhile, it pushed Lee to a career high of world No.22, as the Masters looms.
A tie for second place was pretty much the perfect preparation for Scheffler, banking $845,000 ahead of his title defence at Augusta National next week.
