The inaugural season of TGL is only one week old, but bosses are already building towards optimistic expansion plans.

A purpose-built venue in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, hosted the first match last week and that has only wetted the appetite of the powers that be.

And, as reported by Josh Carpenter of the Sports Business Journal, that means possibly adding new venues, teams and LIV golfers.

According to Mike McCarley, the co-founder of TMRW Sports alongside Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, officials took site visits in 2024.

Those were with an eye on taking TGL to more venues, with Las Vegas, Scottsdale and Southern California all touted as viable options.

Meanwhile, the league, which only allows PGA Tour players to compete, currently has six teams. But a deal between the circuit and the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) could change that.

It’s an idea McCarley is open to.

“Oh yeah. Yes, absolutely,” he said, when asked if TGL had a list of potential LIV players in mind. “But the reality is, we have a good business in what we have right now.

“I know it’s interesting and I know everyone’s talking about it and I know it’s fun to kind of pontificate on what could or could not be, but we have a job to do.

“We’ve got to deliver a really compelling product.”

TGL achieved that in its first week, averaging a peak audience of over one million viewers on primetime TV in the United States.

While it’s unclear how viewership figures will continue, Woods and McIlroy are both yet to feature in a live TGL match.

Woods, 49, will compete first, however, as Jupiter Links Golf Club face Los Angeles Golf Club on Tuesday night.
