The final major of the 2022 golf season is almost upon us, and it’s already shaping up to be a cracker.

At the Old Course in St Andrews between July 14 and 17, the next Champion Golfer of the Year will be decided at the Open Championship.

There are plenty of stories to keep an eye on. Can Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas or Matt Fitzpatrick add to the majors they have already won this year? Will Rory McIlroy end his eight-year drought? Will Collin Morikawa defend his title? Or will a surprise winner emerge from the pack.

Extra historical significance is attached to this year’s championship, since it is the 150th time the game’s original major will have been played.

Let’s take a look at the players who will be fighting it out for the Claret Jug.
