Where better to begin than with the putter that started it all. The 1A’a tuning fork-like construction marked a significant step forward in putter design and gave a distinctive ‘ping’ sound when struck. PING’s founder and inventor of the 1A, Karsten Solheim, immediately recognised the significance of the sound from a marketing perspective and, like that, a brand was born.
