• Bubba Watson admits his love of playing golf in Scotland
• But revealed that the Open is a tournament that ‘bugs’ him
• He’s missed the cut in four of his seven Open appearances

BUBBA WATSON

Bubba Watson has revealed that the Open is a tournament that ‘bugs’ him – but admitted that he loves coming over and playing golf in Scotland.

The 37-year-old has struggled in his seven Open Championship appearances, missing the cut four times with a best finish of T23 at Royal Lytham & St Annes in 2012.

And despite only a quarter of his tournament rounds being under par – five out of 20 – he says he won’t be changing his game for Royal Troon this July and finds it tough to adjust with only being on UK soil for a week.

“I love the game of golf over in Scotland” – Bubba Watson

“I’m never changing my game for a certain tournament,” said Bubba Watson prior to the WGC-Cadillac Championship. “I love the game of golf over in Scotland, links golf, true links golf, I love it. “I’ve had moments that I’ve played well in stretches but not good enough. The last two years, I think I’ve missed the US Open and British Open cuts. But overall, I’m happy with all my years, so I’m not going to change my golf or my style just for those two events.

“The British Open, really it bugs me a little bit just because the imagination, I haven’t been able to perform all four days. I’ve had moments, but not all four days. I’d like to start with making the cut first and then go from there.”
