If you weren’t lucky enough to get tickets for the 152nd edition of golf’s oldest major and plan on watching from the comfort of your living room, here’s The Open TV schedule for the week ahead at Royal Troon…

And, with the weather forecast looking a bit dicey during the championship, maybe it’s for the best.

Once again, Sky Sports will provide the live coverage rights. The R&A signed a five-year contract extension with the broadcaster in January, meaning The Open will be behind a subscription paywall until at least 2028.

Outgoing chief executive Martin Slumbers, who will make way for his successor later this summer, believes the deal will benefit golf in the long run.

“Our partnership with Sky Sports has enabled us to deliver outstanding live coverage of our championships to fans, as well as providing important revenues which support our broader activities to develop golf around the world and sustain the sport for current and future generations,” he said.

“The live broadcast continues to push boundaries and use technology to give viewers a deeper understanding and appreciation of the skill required by the world’s best players and presents the drama and excitement of our championships in a dynamic and entertaining way.”

There will, however, be free-to-air highlights from each night of the tournament on the BBC.
