The PLAYERS 2025: Prize money payout in full

Rory McIlroy has written multiple new chapters of golf history with his victory at The PLAYERS Championship.

The Irishman defeated US ace JJ Spaun courtesy of a three-hole playoff contested on Monday morning at TPC Sawgrass after the pair were tied at the end of Sunday’s weather-delayed final round.

In doing so, McIlroy has become the first European to win the PGA Tour’s flagship title multiple times.

The $4.5million cheque he banked is significant, too. It has moved him above Phil Mickelson and into second place in PGA Tour Career Earnings.

McIlroy carved out the largest share of the $25million prize fund, which has climbed dramatically since the tournament was first stage in 1974, when Jack Nicklaus lifted the title and earned $50,000.

The purse eventually reached the million-dollar mark in 1987 before totalling $10million in 2014.
