Rory McIlroy is the 2025 Masters champion – and he’ll receive much, much more than just a Green Jacket.
The Northern Irishman banished his major demons in the most dramatic circumstances at Augusta National on Sunday, prevailing in a play-off to complete the career grand slam.
McIlroy, 35, held a five-shot lead at one point on the back nine, but was forced into extra holes against Ryder Cup teammate Justin Rose.
But a birdie three on the first extra hole sealed his place in golf’s most exclusive major club.
Here are the nine things he gets for winning the Masters…

• The Masters 2025: Prize money payout in full
Green Jacket
The Green Jacket is undoubtedly the most iconic piece of clothing in golf. It was first handed to Masters champion Sam Snead in 1949 and has since become synonymous with the tournament. The champion can do what they please with the jacket for a year before returning it to Augusta upon their return the following year.
Masters Trophy
Given the prominence of the Green Jacket, you may be less familiar with the Masters trophy that goes along with it. The stunning trophy is a replica of the Augusta National clubhouse and is made up of 900 pieces of solid silver.
Gold Medal
Featuring a picture of the Founders Circle in front of the clubhouse, Masters champions have been given these gold medals since way back in 1934, when the first edition of the tournament took place. The medal is just 3.4 inches in diameter.
Record-breaking prize money
In 2025, a huge winner’s cheque of $4.2million is heading home with McIlroy. That’s a huge boost on the $3.6million Scottie Scheffler banked for winning his second Masters title in 2024.

Lifetime Exemption
One of the greatest benefits of winning the Masters is that you can keep coming back as long as you like. And when you’re too old or struggling to play the full tournament, you will still be invited back to play in the annual par-3 Masters tournament. You also became an honorary member, which means you can play Augusta National whenever you like away from tournament week.
Invitation to the Masters Champions Dinner
Not only does McIlroy get to take charge of the next Champions Dinner, where he will pick the menu and take on hosting duties, he is invited to the famous meal – which takes place on Tuesday of tournament week – for life.
Augusta National Golden Locket
Honorary members at Augusta National also receive a lesser known prize, a golden locket which features the iconic emblem of the golf club itself.
Spot in Champions Locker Room
A spot in the most coveted locker room in golf now awaits McIlroy. While all other competitors get ready in the player’s locker room, Masters winners have their own locker in the Champions Locker room.
Major exemptions and points
Of course, this won’t concern McIlroy – but the Masters is also offered an exemption into majors for the next five years. They also will claim a huge number of Ryder Cup and Official World Golf Ranking points.
