Woods refuses to name his next event after returning to golf at Augusta

World No.1 Tiger Woods has admitted that he does not know when his next event will be.

The 34-year-old finished fourth at the Masters after 20 weeks away from the game in the wake of allegations about his private life.

And after carding a final round of 69 to finish 11-under-par and five shots adrift of Phil Mickelson, Woods conceded that he was not sure when he would next play on the PGA Tour.

“I’m going to take a little time off and re-evaluate where I go from here,” said the 14-time major winner.

“I finished fourth. It’s not what I wanted. I wanted to win this tournament. As the week went on, I kept hitting the ball worse.

“After Friday it wasn’t very good. I entered this event and I only enter events to win but I didn’t hit it well enough and made too many mistakes around the green.”

Woods also dismissed criticism of his behaviour during his struggles on the front nine.

The embattled golfer had pledged to be more respectful towards the game and temper his outbursts during a pre-tournament press conference last week.

However, birdies and the first, fourth and fifth holes saw him slip back to five-under-par and, in the eyes of many, into his old bad habits, too.

Woods, though, defended himself by saying: “People are making way too much of a deal of this.”
