Tom Watson believes personal problems are affecting Tiger’s game
Eight-time major-winner Tom Watson revealed that he believes Tiger Woods’ game is being affected by his off-course scandal in his latest criticism of the world No.1.
Watson, who was on the cusp of becoming the world’s oldest ever major champion at last year’s Open Championship at Turnberry, has hit out several times at the world No.1 since news of his extra-marital affairs broke late last year.
However, the 60-year-old’s latest comments reveal an understanding of why Woods’ game is not as dominant as golf fans have come to expect.
“His life is a lot more complicated now,” said Watson in a press conference this week. “He doesn’t hear that absolute silence when he’s playing, and he mentioned when he’s playing his best he hears nothing.
“I’m sure there are things going on in his mind that make it very difficult for him.
“That kid was so much better than the rest when he came out and he evolved into a golf swing that really worked for him. He has some difficulties with the golf swing now.”
