World No.2 types first personalised tweet

World No.2 Tiger Woods has taken another step towards mending his broken reputation – by making his first tweet.

A Twitter account in the name @TigerWoods first posted tweets on June 26, directing fans to the star’s official website and facebook page.

However, the tweet from Wednesday, November 17 appeared to be the 14-time major winner’s first personalised message to fans, reading: “What’s up everyone. Finally decided to try out twitter!”

The 34-year-old, who has failed to win a single tournament since revelations about his extra-marital affairs surfaced at the end of 2009, has been making a concerted effort to be more open with his fans than ever before.

And it seems personalised twitter messages and direct conversation with his fans is the next step in rebuilding his brand.

Woods had little more than 90,000 followers when he sent his first tweet at 11:08ET, according to the Associated Press, but just over two hours later he was closing in on 120,000.
