Golf fans, we’re going to see Tiger Woods A LOT sooner than we expected.

The 15-time major champion has today announced that he’ll be ready to play in the opening major of the season, the Masters, next week!

Sorry, he said it, not us.

Of course, it’s an April Fool’s joke of the highest order, and he’s teased golf fans as the best week of the year makes a comeback for the 89th time.

“I can’t believe I am saying this, but a few weeks after rupturing my left Achilles, the sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber plus the explosive lifts my doctors and trainers have me ready to play the Masters next week!” he wrote on X.

“Can’t wait! See y’all on the course.”

You had us in the first half, Tiger.

“P.S. April Fools my Achilles is still a mess,” he immediately added.

As much as we’d love to see Woods back in action, it’s perhaps unlikely, at the least at the top level, and especially not anytime soon.

The Achilles he’s referring to is his left tendon, which he ruptured earlier this month and required minimally-invasive surgery on.

The 49-year-old’s latest setback ruled him out of the Masters and possibly the remainder of the year, having not played a competitive tour event since last summer’s Open Championship.

“As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured,” he explained.

“This morning, Dr. Charlton Stucken of Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida, performed a minimally-invasive Achilles tendon repair for a ruptured tendon.

“I am back home now and plan to focus on my recovery and rehab. Thank you for all the support.”

While the procedure went smoothly, Woods can expect to be in recovery for up to a year, or even longer, to get back to his previous level of performance.
