• Says Tiger Woods suggested that the team go fishing
• It's 33 weeks until USA and Europe do battle at Hazeltine
RYDER CUP | DAVIS LOVE III | TIGER WOODS
US Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III has revealed that vice-captain Tiger Woods wants the team go fishing as a teambuilding exercise before the match at Hazeltine later this year.
The suggestion came after Love made it clear that previous captain Tom Watson met up with potential team members too late, meaning they weren’t well prepared enough to tackle Europe in what ended in a crushing defeat at Gleneagles in 2014.
“Tom, I think when he was captain, had a dinner at Akron,” said Love, speaking ahead of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. “That's too late for us now. We want to get ahead of the game. We're going to do our first one in March.

“Tiger and some of the guys were talking about, maybe we need to go somewhere away from golf and go fishing and hang out and just have some fun and talk about it. Team building. Like any good company or any good team does. Take a group of guys and maybe take a group of caddies, go do the same thing.
“We just want it to be fun and friendly and relaxed when we get there. So if we get all the business out of the way, the preparation, the guys know how to prepare for golf tournaments. We just want them to have the opportunity to prepare and then go have fun.”
It’s now just 33 weeks until USA and Europe do battle at Hazeltine, with USA looking to end their woeful run of eight defeats in the last ten, including the last three in a row.
