Tom Kim has escaped further punishment for a locker room incident at the Genesis Championship last month.

According to Korea JoongAng Daily, a disciplinary committee meeting was held on Wednesday to make a decision.

The KPGA concluded that Kim “failed to maintain dignity” after the tournament but only issued the 22-year-old a warning.

The report claimed that Kim did not attend Wednesday’s meeting, but his agent did.

Kim, already a three-time winner on the PGA Tour, released a statement on Instagram after the incident to apologise.

“There has been a lot of false reporting, and I wanted to clean things up. It’s important that the information comes directly from me, openly and honestly,” he wrote.

“After the loss I was frustrated, yes absolutely… but I can assure you with absolute truth that I had no intent of damaging any part of the locker, not a single bit.

“I addressed it with the DP World Tour and the KPGA right after the incident saying that the door came off.

“I’m grateful to everyone that’s reached out with messages of support, but to them and everyone else that I may have let down, I apologise with all my heart.”

Meanwhile, Kim said that the case was considered closed after he agreed to pay all expenses for the damage.

A picture obtained by someone at the co-sanctioned event showed the locker door fully removed from the hinges, although Kim said that was due to ‘safety concerns’.

He is yet to tee it up since the event, which came one week after missing the cut at the Shriners Children’s Open.
