Trump International, Scotland has unveiled the layout for its new links course set to formally open this summer.

Known officially as the Old and the New, the golf courses will combine to create ‘The Greatest 36 Holes in Golf’ on the Aberdeenshire coast.

Sweeping out towards and later along the stunning shores, the New Course tees off near the driving range and ninth green of the Old Course.

The front nine travels away from the property before the 16th, 17th and 18th holes run directly adjacent to the sea.

It will open with a grand ceremony as part of a trilogy of golf events on the site, including The Staysure PGA Seniors Championship and the Scottish Championship.

The Legends Tour’s flagship event will take place on the Old course from July 30-August 3, before the Scottish Championship returns to the DP World Tour from August 7-10.

Sarah Malone, executive vice president of Trump International, said: “With the New course opening now fast approaching, we are delighted to share the final layout of this extraordinary links and the completion of The Greatest 36 Holes.

“It has been a phenomenal journey to create two truly exceptional world-class championship golf courses, across this magnificent stretch of North Sea coastline.

“The Trump family has a deep affection for Scotland – not only as the home of golf – but as the ancestral home of President Trump’s beloved mother, Mary Anne MacLeod.”

Speaking at today’s media event ahead of the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship, Malone outlined the organisation’s future tournament ambitions.

It’s hoped that more of the world’s best players will be able to compete on the links – and soon.

“This is why the site was built,” Malone said. “We said at the very outset that we wanted to host a tournament. And so, this year, we’re doing back-to-back tournaments.

“It is the beginning of a new era for us, having 36 holes. It’s a big thing for the tourism economy.

“It will ensure that golfers are not too ready to leave the area, which is all good news. And gives us limitless options and possibilities for tournament and professional play.

“Irrespective of the backdrop with the economy or markets, none of that has had an impact on our vision to create a world-class golf destination. And to host the biggest and best tournaments in the world.”

Malone also said that the response from the White House has been overwhelmingly postive. She claimed that the Trump family is excited for the opening of the New Course and proud of the venue’s current trajectory.

Meanwhile, Trump International, Scotland is also to create a special memorial garden on the site in tribute to the US President’s late mother, MacLeod.

The main feature of the garden will be a tribute carved in stone specially imported from her birthplace and original home, the Isle of Lewis.
