The Turkish Airlines Open, the event which lured Tiger Woods to the European Tour last year, is to return to the Tour this November.

The tournament will feature as part of the European Tour’s ‘Final Series’ after a successful 2013 debut that saw Woods joined by the likes of Henrik Stenson and Ian Poulter.

And this year, Tiger is set to return again.

“This has turned into one of the biggest event on the European circuit so excited to be here.” – Tiger Woods

Woods reportedly signed a three-year deal to play in the event worth around £2,000,000 per appearance. Cahit Sahin, general manager of The Montgomerie Maxx Royal, knows what, Woods’ involvement could mean for the Turkish Airlines Open.

“The exposure of the Turkish Airlines Open has created great interest in the Montgomerie Maxx Royal and the Maxx Royal Belek Golf & Spa,” said Sahin.

“Golfers are relishing the opportunity to recreate the great shots they saw Tiger and other great players hit in 2013. We have seen a real surge in the number of golfers looking to experience the best that Turkish golf has to offer.”

Turkish Airlines Open :: the course

Like last year, the Montgomerie Maxx Royal Golf Course is the stage awaiting players, the same layout where Victor Dubuisson won the 2013 inaugural Turkish Airlines Open.

Cahit Sahin is confident the course will be in great condition like it was during last year’s tournament.

“It was great to learn of the widespread approval of the layout and conditioning.”

“The course remains in incredible condition, as it does all year round under the guidance of our expert greenkeeping team,” he said.

“We were delighted by the feedback we received from some of the biggest names in the sport, but we never rest on our laurels and are continually seeking to improve all aspects of our offering. It was great to learn of the widespread approval of the layout and conditioning, from a field including no less than six major champions.

“As we get ready to host another sterling field in 2014, we are confident that all golfers who come to sample the Montgomerie Maxx Royal will be just as effusive in their praise.”

Before last year’s tournament Tiger Woods had a go at creating history. Watch the video above to see what happened.
