We’re only three days into 2025 but we’ve already got our first rant from Tyrrell Hatton.

Never one to mince his words, whether on the course or off it, the Ryder Cup star sat down for an interview with the Daily Mail’s Riath Al-Samarrai.

In a wide-ranging conversation, Hatton covered topics including his decision to join the LIV Golf League 12 months ago, his Ryder Cup hopes, deleting social media from his phone, and more.

One of the subjects that came up was the suggestion hat his Legion XIII teammate and captain Jon Rahm had experienced ‘buyer’s remorse’ over his own decision to jump ship for LIV.

A Golf Digest story last summer quoted an unnamed tour insider as saying that the Spaniard is dealing with “deep regret” over his move to the Saudi-funded league in December 2023.

“I am 100 percent positive that if Jon could give the money back and come back to the [PGA] Tour, he couldn’t write the check fast enough,” the source is quoted as saying.

Rahm quickly dismissed that claim as having “zero validity” and, speaking to the Daily Mail, Hatton corroborated that viewpoint in his own inimitable style.

“Forgive me saying this but that is just media bull****,” he said. “People showed me some of the stuff that was written, but from being around Jon that’s never even been a thought process that crossed my mind.

“He’s really enjoyed it and he has certainly played some pretty good golf.”

That’s for certain. Rahm topped LIV’s individual standings in his debut season on the circuit.

On the subject of removing his social media accounts from his phone, Hatton added: “There was a bit of negativity. I was a bit fed up with it anyway and that was the tipping point.

“I didn’t feel I needed the negativity from people I have never met, but who think they’ve got a right to message things that aren’t very nice. We’re all human and I just don’t need that from people who should have no influence on how I feel.”

The Englishman is set to get his second LIV campaign under way in the opening event of its 2025 season in Riyadh next month.
