Sweden’s Maja Stark is the 2025 US Women’s Open champion.
The 25-year-old held off Nelly Korda and Rio Takeda at Erin Hills to win her second LPGA Tour title and first major championship.
Of course, the biggest win of the Solheim Cup star’s career paid well.
Stark, who finished seven-under to win by two, banked a joint-record winner’s prize of $2.4 million. It was part of a $12 million purse.
And immediately after her win, Stark admitted how she’d spend it.
“I didn’t even know that,” she said of the winning sum. “Maybe move out of my studio apartment can be one thing.
“I don’t know. I’m very happy with what I have in my life right now. I think just having security for the future, I think I’ll just be very happy about that.”
Meanwhile, it was another near miss in a major championship for Korda, who beat Stark to win the 2024 Chevron Championship.
The world No.1 earned just over $1 million for her T2 effort.
