We bet DP World Tour rookie David Micheluzzi didn’t bank on ending the season with a Guinness World Record on his CV.

At last month’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, organisers set up a 139-yard putt from the middle of the fairway on the 7th hole at Yas Links ahead of the penultimate event of the 2024 season.

Players were then asked to take a brief break from their practice rounds and attempt to hole out from the makeshift teeing area.

Joost Luiten, Thriston Lawrence, Romain Langasque, Dylan Fritelli and Sean Crocker were among those who went close, while others, including Tommy Fleetwood, Robert MacIntyre and Min Woo Lee, failed to reach the green.

Then up stepped Australian Micheluzzi, who won the Order of Merit on his home tour last year to earn his DP World Tour card, and, well, just see for yourself…

It was confirmed over the weekend Micheluzzi, a Callaway staff player, had set a new Guinness World Record for the ‘Longest Golf Putt (Non-Tournament)’ – beating the previous number by 15 feet.

Other DP World Tour players to own a Guinness World Record include Thomas Detry, who played a par-5 at Guadalmina in 1 minute and 29.62 seconds to set the record for ‘Fastest hole of golf by an individual’, while the foursome of Crocker, Nicolai Hojgaard, Min Woo Lee and Wilco Nienaber played a hole at Valderrama in 24.75 seconds to take the ‘Fastest hole of golf by a team of four’ title.

Englishman Marcus Armitage also has a world record to his name after he hit a ball 303 yards into a BMW to take the title for ‘Farthest golf shot caught in a moving car’, while Jordan Smith equalled the world record for ‘Most golf balls caught in one minute’ alongside cricketer Josh Dunkley.
