Alligators are commonplace on a lot of golf courses in the US state of Florida – but seldom ones quite this big.

Spotted crossing the fairway at Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Florida, according to Golf.com this alligator surprised a group out for an afternoon round with one of the players in the group – 56-year-old Charles Helms – saying there was a stunned silence between the golfers on the scene.

David Matos, the person featuring in the video, told Golf.com: “This alligator was so large he would only move slowly about 100 feet at a time before having to lie down and rest so he probably wasn’t in as much danger as it may have appeared. An alligator expert may refute that; I’m just going on what I have been told.”

Although the weather’s much better Stateside, at least we don’t have gators interrupting our rounds over here! Check out the video footage below.
