The 2024 PGA Championship will see a familiar venue take centre stage.
Valhalla Golf Club in Kentucky will stage the 106th edition of the tournament.
It will be the fourth time that the championship has taken place over the Jack Nicklaus-designed track and the first since 2014 when Rory McIlroy won the Wanamaker Trophy for the second time.
It was previously used in 1996, when Mark Brooks defeated Kenny Perry in a playoff, and in 2000, when Tiger Woods completed the third leg of his famous ‘Tiger Slam’.
Valhalla has also staged two Senior PGA Championships – in 2004 and 2011 – as well as the 2008 Ryder Cup, won by a Paul Azinger-inspired USA.
Opened in 1986, Valhalla is located in the eastern part of Louisville, just outside the Gene Snyder Freeway. It was the brainchild of local businessman Dwight Gahm (pronounced “game”) and, since June 2022, has been owned by a consortium of clubs members led by Jimmy Kirchdorfer, CEO of locally based piping supplier ISCO Industries.
The 13th is Valhalla’s signature hole and is likely to play a big part in deciding the fate of the 2024 PGA Championship.
