The young Danish player is one of golf’s rising stars, so who is Nicolai Hojgaard’s coach?
After a breakthrough 2023 season, Nicolai Hojgaard earned a PGA Tour card and was handed a Ryder Cup debut in Italy.
And his coach knows a thing or two about experience in the biennial dust-up between Europe and the United States.
Hojgaard’s coach is fellow Dane Soren Hansen, a multiple winner on the DP World Tour and former Ryder Cup player.
After splitting with former coach Thomas Larsson, Hojgaard began working with Hansen.

The PGA instructor, who is also an analyst and commentator, has worked with several big names in the world of golf.
His most recent client alongside Nicolai Hojgaard is Matteo Manassero, an Italian DP World Tour winner who was once ranked as high as 25 in the world.
Hansen became only the second golfer from Denmark to compete in the Ryder Cup, when he played in 2008.
The Copenhagen-born man has further team experience, as he represented Denmark in the World Cup on eight ocassions.
He qualified to be part of Sir Nick Faldo’s side at Valhalla, but made his debut in a convincing loss, where Hansen won just half a point.

Alongside Nicolai Hojgaard, Hansen got another taste of the biennial event when his latest pupil was selected as a wildcard by Luke Donald in 2023.
It comes after an excellent season on both sides of the Atlantic, as Nicolai Hojgaard competed on the PGA and DP World Tour.
His most notable result was arguably a T23 finish at the Open Championship at Hoylake, which inspired a run of solid results.
Hojgaard finished third and tied fifth in the two events leading up to Ryder Cup selection to stake his case for a debut.
While it is unclear where Hansen coaches from, between 2017 and 2019, he was Head of Instruction at Great Northern, an international golf club in Kerteminde, Denmark.
He was born in Copenhagen and won the 1997 Danish Amateur Stroke Play Championship before turning professional later that year.
Meanwhile, Nicolai isn’t the only Hojgaard working with Hansen. His brother Rasmus uses the same coach.
Same goes for Nicolai Hojgaard’s Physiotherapist and Fitness Trainer Rob Hobkinson.
According to Peak Golf Performance, the pair have worked together since 2022 and work to ensure he is in peak physical condition.
