TGL makes its hotly anticipated debut on January 7, but who is on the broadcast team?

The inaugural season of the new indoor primetime golf league, founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, will take place in Florida each week.

For viewers in the UK, Sky Sports will broadcast the action every Tuesday or Wednesday morning, while US viewers can tune into ESPN every Monday or Tuesday night.

And we know who will be in the broadcast booth for the season, which culminates in play-offs at the end of March.

On hand for the action, as the six teams face off against each other, will be Scott Van Pelt, Matt Barrie, and Marty Smith.

The trio will lead the coverage on ESPN and will team up with Claire Rogers, Jahmai Webster, and Roger Steele as part of the combined TGL broadcast team.

Van Pelt, an American sportscaster, will host the TGL pre-match and intermissions from the ‘SportsCenter’ studio in Washington, while Barrie will call the action live from the SoFi Centre.

Smith, dubbed by TGL as the ‘reporter’, will act as the on-course man, providing access to the players, the team owners and celebrities attending the matches.

TGL host Van Pelt is the long-time anchor of SportsCentre on ESPN, but he has become renowned for his work at the Masters, too.

He broadcasts Thursday and Friday from Augusta for the US network.

Barrie, meanwhile, has worked with Van Pelt at ESPN for several years and has been part of ESPN’s major championship golf coverage for over a decade.

Finally, Smith – who co-hosts the popular show ‘Marty and McGee’ – is no stranger to top-level golf. He’s featured on ESPN’s major coverage since 2017.

The remainder of the TGL broadcast team will consist of Webster and Rogers as digital hosts and Steele as an arena MC.

Others likely to feature on the broadcast include DJ Irie, on-field referee Derrick Stafford and booth official Mark Russell.
