Rasmus Hojgaard quickly established himself as one of the most promising talents in golf, so who is his coach?
After turning pro in 2019 at just 18 years old, Hojgaard made history when becoming the third youngest winner on the European Tour.
That was only his third appearance, but the Dane is now a multiple DP World Tour winner and looks likely to continue his ascent up the world rankings.
So, who is behind Rasmus’ smooth swing? Well, that would be compatriot Soren Hansen.
• Who is the caddie of Rasmus Hojgaard?
• Who is Rasmus Hojgaard’s girlfriend?
Rasmus Hojgaard’s coach Soren Hansen
Rasmus Hojgaard’s coach is Soren Hansen – the same man who works with his twin brother, Nicolai.
It’s unclear when the pair began working together, but Soren Hansen was a multiple tour winning pro in his own playing days.
Born in Copenhagen in 1974, Hansen won the 1997 Danish Amateur Stroke Play Championship and turned professional later that year.
He won the Irish Open in 2002 – beating Richard Bland, among others – in a play-off before claiming the title at the 2007 Mercedes-Benz Championship.
That earned him a place in the 2008 Ryder Cup, although Hansen’s Team Europe was soundly defeated by the US.
After top-ten finishes at the US Open and Open Championship in 2009, Hansen missed the cut in all four major championships the following year.

• Who is Sergio Garcia’s coach?
He competed in the US Open as recently as 2016 but has long hung up his clubs and turned his attention to coaching two of Denmark’s brightest players.
While it is also unclear where Hansen coaches from, between 2017 and 2019, he was Head of Instruction at Great Northern, an international golf club in Kerteminde, Denmark.
As a PGA instructor, Hansen is also an analyst and commentator, and has worked with several big names in the world of golf.
One of his more recent clients is Matteo Manassero, an Italian DP World Tour winner who was once ranked as high as 25 in the world.
Meanwhile, Rasmus Hojgaard also works with Rob Hobkinson – who acts as his Physiotherapist and Fitness Trainer on the DP World Tour.
They joined forces in May 2022 and Hobkinson ensures Rasmus is in peak physical condition.
As a Chartered Physiotherapist, Strength and Conditioning Coach, PGA Professional and Member of the UK Strength and Conditioning Association, he leads Peak Golf Performance.
“Rob’s remit is to maximise Rasmus’ physical capabilities,” its website reads. “Giving him and his coach, Søren Hansen – a sound platform to develop his game and technique unimpeded, and then to deliver his best golf during tournament weeks.”
