But who is the coach behind Jon Rahm’s rise to stardom on the course?

The key man working with Rahm throughout his hugely successful career so far is the renowned golf coach Dave Phillips, who has been by his side during his ascent to the top of the game and major glory.

Born in England and raised in Australia and Africa, Phillips has been among the world’s foremost instructors for the past two decades, working with many top professionals on the PGA Tour and other circuits.

He is ranked among top 100 coaches in the US and is one of the most in-demand golf teachers in the country, and has worked with famous golfers including Tom Kite, Peter Jacobsen and Brad Faxon.

Based in California, having played and coached all over the world, Phillips is a co-founder of the well-known Titleist Performance Institute, along with Dr Greg Rose.

The pair combine Titleist’s expertise in club-fitting with individual physical attributes and swing intricacies to deliver tailored coaching for each player.

Phillips has also spent a considerable amount of time working with David Leadbetter in Orlando, Florida, and as the director of instruction at Caves Valley Golf Club. While there, he established one of America’s top tuition facilities.

Over the years he has also developed a successful business offering corporate lessons, as well as golf outings, group sessions and client entertainment.

He is a successful proponent of computerised swing analysis and biomechanics, and is renowned for his understandable approach to teaching. He has been featured in many golf publications and regularly lends his insight to television broadcasts.
