World No.1 will also play JP McManus Pro-Am in Ireland in July

Tiger Woods has confirmed he will be defending his title at the Australian Masters this year – the scene of his last victory.
The world No.1, the centre of a sex scandal just weeks after his win in Melbourne in November, will join Geoff Ogilvy, Sergio Garcia and Camilo Villegas in the field – and is expected to pick up a bumper appearance fee in the region of $3million.
Officials hope the event, hosted this year by Victoria Golf Club in November, will be as successful as last year’s staging, which injected around $34million into the Victorian economy – almost double the estimates made prior to the tournament.
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old will warm up for this year’s Open Championship at a pro-am event in Ireland.
The 14-time major winner heads a high quality line-up at the JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am at Adare Manor in Co Limerick from July 5 to 6.
When the event was last staged in 2005 it raised more than 30million euros for charity.
“Like my own Foundation, I understand the importance and necessity of raising funds to help deserving individuals – this tournament does that,” said Woods.
Also in the field for the event will be Lee Westwood, Jim Furyk, Ian Poulter, Ernie Els, Luke Donald, Paul Casey, Rory McIlroy, Martin Kaymer, Robert Allenby, Padraig Harrington and Camilo Villegas.
