World No.1 thanks fans and apologises for his language at the Masters in new blog

Tiger Woods has apologised for his bad language at the Masters Tournament – and revealed his joy at the reception he received from fans.
The world No.1, blogging on his website for the first time since October 5 last year – before news of his extra-marital affairs became public knowledge – thanked his fans for their warm welcome back to professional golf, but stated it was tough keeping a lid on his language while in contention.
“I honestly didn’t know what to expect from the fans,” he admitted. “But they were absolutely incredible. It was unreal. To get that type of warmth is something I did not expect and will never forget.
“It’s tough when you’re in a competitive environment and in the flow of a tournament,” he said of his bad language on course.
“I’m not perfect. All I can say is I’m trying to do everything I can without losing my fire and competitive spirit.”
The 34-year-old also took a moment to reflect on his Masters performance, as well as his preparations for his next tournament – this week’s Quail Hollow Championship.
“It felt great to be in the hunt again,” said the four-time Masters champion. “But unfortunately, I didn’t have my game.
“I knew I needed to make a run, but I just didn’t have one in me.
“I took a little off to go scuba diving an spend time with my family, but I did enjoy a fun round of golf with my friend John Cook at Isleworth Country Club.
“I double-eagled the par-five 17th – the third of my life – with a five wood and shot 63, so my game is improving.”
Woods will play this week’s Quail Hollow as well as next week’s Players Championship at Sawgrass.
