It’s crunch time on the PGA Tour.
The Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina, is the final regular event of the PGA Tour season.
As always, 500 FedEx Cup points are up for grabs and, on the back of the Olympic Games, they could be crucial for a handful of players.
With the top 70 in the season-long standings earning a place in next week’s FedEx St Jude Championships, the pressure is on.
Victor Perez is the bubble man at rank 70, and the Frenchman has Davis Riley and Andrew Putnam breathing down his neck for the final spot in the first event of the play-offs.
It was at this time 12 months ago that Lucas Glover won the Wyndham and St Jude in back-to-back weeks, and he could do with a similar effort as number 75 in the standings.
The event was founded in 1938 and played in April or May until a schedule change in 2003 moved it towards the end of the season.
Meanwhile, fans would love to see a repeat of Brandt Snedeker’s heroics in 2018. During the first round, the American shot a 59, only the tenth sub-60 round in Tour history.

The bunkered bet
Aaron Rai 35/1
The Englishman hasn’t fared well at Sedgefield in the past, so it’s no surprise that he’s long odds to win his PGA Tour event this week. But Rai is a transformed player in the last 12 months, ranking in the top ten in strokes gained from tee to green. In a wide-open field, its time for Rai to get it done Stateside.
