It’s taken him the best part of a week, but Wyndham Clark has finally broken his silence on the damage he inflicted on a locker during the US Open.
Clark, 31, was accused of destroying two lockers in a fit of rage inside the famed Oakmont clubhouse after missing the cut by one shot last week.
No Laying Up’s Tron Carter shared an image of the lockers purportedly smashed up by Clark.
The 2023 US Open was widely condemned for the damage, with many calling for him to be banned from next year’s championship.

After opening with a 64 at TPC River Highlands in this week’s Travelers Championship, the American was asked about the incident, having said nothing about until now.
Suffice to say, he’s feeling contrite.
“I’ve had a lot of highs and lows in my career, especially this year some lows,” he said. “I made a mistake that I deeply regret. I’m very sorry for what happened.
“But I’d also like to move on, not only for myself but for Oakmont, for the USGA, and kind of focus on the rest of this year and things that come up.
“I still want to try to make the Ryder Cup team. I still am on the outside looking in for the FedEx Cup. So I’m starting to move on and focus on those things.”

He has picked a good place to try and find some positive vibes. Clark made his PGA Tour debut at the Travelers eight years ago and admits that he’s glad to be back.
“This place has always been kind of special to me,” he added. “Getting my first start with Travelers, coming out of college, you don’t know what to expect. It was my first ever tour event. I didn’t play very well, but I remember leaving that year saying, okay, I’m going to win here someday.
“I love this place, and it’s special to me. So regardless of if that happens, I’m always excited to come back to this course, this tournament. They treat us so well. Travelers does an amazing job. I’m happy to be here.”
