Set on the North Rhinns Peninsula, overlooking Loch Ryan, Stranraer has wonderful views to Ailsa Craig, Arran and beyond. Designed by James Braid, this parkland throws up a fine challenge thanks to a number of fantastic holes played against a backdrop of Loch Ryan. At the third, a winding burn is crossed three times to a green set between a large bunker and a steep bank sloping down to the burn. There is a demanding tee shot at the 11th with trees and out of bounds to the left then a steep rise to a very fast green. It is difficult to find a harder par-3 than the 15th. Accuracy is paramount with ground sloping away either side of the green.
