LPGA star Michelle Wie has witnessed a huge turn-around in form since switching to Callaway equipment earlier this year.
The 27-year-old, who hadn’t touched anything other than a Nike club since she was 15, signed a multi-year contract with Callaway in January after enduring a horrendous 2016, where she had just one top ten finish in 25 events and saw her world ranking plummet to No.182.
“Joining Callaway feels like a natural partnership,” Wie said upon her unveiling as a Callaway ambassador. “I believe that they make the best equipment in golf, and that their clubs are really going to help me have a great year.
“I also admire how they make the game fun and accessible to fans, and make them feel like they are part of the experience. That’s something that’s really important to me.”
And it’s a case of so far, so good for the American, who has won four times on the LPGA Tour including her major victory – and most recent victory – at the 2014 US Women’s Open.
In eight events so far in 2017, Wie has missed just one cut and has two top tens with a fourth at the HSBC Women’s Champions and sixth at the ANA Inspiration – her best finish at a major since winning the US Women’s Open.
And, speaking recently after the Lotte Championship, Wie is confident that success could be just around the corner.
“I think just keep building,” she said. “Just a lot of positives from this week, a couple of things that I need to work on for the next tournament, but a lot of positives and I'm just going to keep riding the momentum.”
