If you want a winter golf escape in the sun, Morocco should be near the top of your bucket list.

Situated in the northwest corner of Africa, it’s home to an exceptionally warm climate and some of the world’s best golf courses.

From Royal clubs to beachfront resorts, there’s a plethora of choice.

Without further ado, here are five of our favourite golf courses in Morocco…

• 5 of the best golf courses in France

• 6 of the best golf courses in Majorca

Al Houara

Green fee: £95

For under £100, Al Houara offers a two green fee package that is, simply put, incredible value. The internationally renowned golf course boasts immaculate fairways and stunning sea views, while the on-site Hilton hotel makes for the perfect stay and play resort.

Royal Golf Dar Es Salam

Green fee: £254

At the other end of the green fee scale is Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, a Robert Trent Jones design near the heart of the capital. Its grounds extend over 440 hectares and a cork oak forest provides the perfect surroundings. The Red is the best of the three courses, stretching a mighty length but covered in luxury.

Assoufid Golf Club

Green fee: £87

Opened for play in October 2014, Assoufid is another value-for-money golf option in Morocco. The 18-hole course runs over undulating ground, while players will be welcomed by sights of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains in the distance. A touch of Scotland in it, too, being designed by former European Tour pro Niall Cameron.

Noria Golf Club

Green fee: £170

Another enjoying spectacular mountain views, but Noria is one of the most unique in Morocco. Diagonal water ditches and natural creeks come into play throughout, but, remarkably, the fourth hole is the only one of 18 to feature a bunkerless green.

Morocco best golf courses
The Jack Nicklaus design at Samanah.

Samanah Golf Club

Green fee: £75

Jack Nicklaus designed this one in Marrakech, which is undoubtedly among the country’s finest golf courses. It’s been a tour host recently and is commonly used in the winter by tour pros looking to sharpen their games. Fast rolling greens and bunkers are the primary defence but the layout itself poses plenty of questions.
