Everyone knows how cheap and cheerful the Czech Republic is, and the golf scene is no different.
Heaped in history, Prague and West Bohemia appeal to those after a proper holiday full of action on the course.
Like the country itself, the golf is surprisingly good, from the stunning resort tracks to world-class championship venues.
Here are a few of the best golf courses in the Czech Republic.

Greensgate Golf and Leisure Resort
Green fee: From £52
Formerly Golf Park Plzen, Greensgate Golf and Leisure Resort sits on the edge of the famous brewing town. It is a multiple host venue of the Ladies European Tour and has recently undergone comprehensive improvement. Renowned for being extremely tight off the tee, you might be best leaving your driver at home.

Karlstejn Golf Resort
Green fee: From £48
One of many outstanding courses scattered around Prague is Karlstejn Golf Resort. Boasting three nines, all overlooked by the 14th century Karlstejn Castle, it’s another with championship pedigree. Bernhard Langer won the Czech Open here in 1997, shooting a course record 62 over the picturesque fairways.
—
Albatross Golf Resort
Green fee: From £59
Within striking distance of the capital, Albatross reportedly cost around €30 million to build and plays to almost 8,000 yards from the tips. Having hosted the European Tour in 2011, players were taken aback by its outstanding quality and facilities.

Panorama Golf Resort
Green fee: From £46
A modern golf course that can compete with some of the best anywhere on the continent. Three contrasting nines – Forest, Meadows and River – are all hugely enjoyable, offering a variety of ways to get around. Remarkable views of Posázaví and the town of Kácov unfold with every passing hole.

Oaks PGA National
Green fee: From £90
Known colloquially as ‘The Oaks’, the green fee suggests this might be the best of the lot, and it would be right. Less than half an hour from the centre of Prague, it was designed by Kyle Phillips and is a premier golf experience nestled in a 140-hectare country estate. The full 18 only opened in 2020, so it’s brand new.

Royal Marianske Lazne
Green fee: From £62
A sunset tee time, from 2pm onwards, brings even more value to a round here, but you’re in for a treat whenever you tee it up. A classic parkland course that evokes the traditions of the game, it’s certainly no pushover. Behind only Karlovy Vary, Marianske Lazne is the country’s second oldest course and well worth your time.
