If the famous Masters venue at Augusta National Golf Club is at the top of your bucket list, then look no further than County Wicklow in Ireland this summer.

Known as the ‘Augusta of Europe’, the famed golf course, designed by Pat Ruddy and Tom Craddock, has announced its re-opening date, following almost €10 million worth of investment.

The Emerald Isle’s highly popular golf destination was named European Golf Resort of the Year in 2005, and the unveiling of its ‘reimagined’ course has only bolstered its lofty reputation.

Now a 7,222-yard Par 72, the fully remodelled championship course, alongside a revamped state-of-the-art clubhouse, will open to visitors from June 1.

Aidan Ryan, General Manager of Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort, said: ‘We knew that this was going to be something special from the outset, with the aims of protecting the history and original magic of the golf course alongside upgrading the course and facilities to modern standards.”

Renowned ‘as being amongst the finest, most challenging and most enjoyable in Europe’, it is easy to see how the upgrades over the last 16 months will cement the golf course’s prestige.

The Druids Glen course hosted four Irish Opens between 1996-1999, and Scotland’s Colin Montgomerie, a two-time winner of the event, cut the ribbon.

The significantly modernised Glen course is now built to USGA standards, with its stunning scenery set to assist in its bid to re-establish itself as one of the finest parkland courses in the country and ‘one of the top golf destinations in Europe’.

In the picturesque, rolling landscape to the South of Dublin, Druids Glen’s immaculate fairways and luscious greens will provide a taste of American Country Club golf in Ireland.

The renovated retreat boasts a second championship course, in Druids Heath, with clear views of the Irish countryside, sea, and Wicklow mountains.
