ARGENTARIO RESORT | COURSES & TRAVEL

One of the most popular holiday destinations in Italy, Tuscany is well known as a retreat for holidaymakers who enjoy landscapes, tradition and history.

Now, thanks to Argentario Golf Resort & Spa, golfers have been flocking in their droves to the Italian region to experience the stunning package it has to offer – with a special offer specifically for bunkered readers (see below).

Located in the Maremma, a breathtaking protected Mediterranean oasis on the Italy’s west coast, you’ll struggle to find better views anywhere than those you get over the adjacent Orbetello Lagoon.

The resort is home to its very own 18-hole championship layout originally designed by Baldovino Dassu. It has since been reshaped by Brian Jorgensen and now offers a layout that is both varied and technically challenging.

If you’re going to master this course then accuracy and good putting will be key. Its small greens sit in some of the most spectacular parts of the resort. Two sit high above the sea and the lagoon while one is immersed in the Mediterranean vegetation.

To be honest, it doesn’t matter how well you play. You’ll still enjoy every moment of your round and be absolutely desperate to get out there again.

Alongside its high quality golf course, the resort also boasts excellent practice facilities where you can warm up ahead of your round or fix some of the faults you found during it.

If you do choose to take advantage of said facilities, you’ll be following in the footsteps of some of the game’s best players, with former Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazabal and Italian star Matteo Manassero both practising there from time to time.

If your swing requires a bit of work, you can make the most of the on-site golf academy. Packed with the latest technology, it is headed up by Emanuele Canonica, who won the 2005 Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.

The former European Tour player is available for lessons and it’s an opportunity you really shouldn’t pass up.
