But one of his most stunning layouts is the brilliant El Camaleon Golf Club at the Mayakoba Resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
Host to the PGA Tour’s OHL Classic at Mayakoba during the first week in November, this is one of the brightest spots on the tour schedule. With a purse of $6million - the largest in Latin America - it is the only tournament that offers an invitation to The Masters in the Latin America region.
Norman’s design weaves its way through three landscapes: dense tropical jungle, mangrove forests, and truly incredible oceanfront stretches where the golf course meets the sea.

The environmentally conscious design is evident from the opening fairway by an imposing cenote, an underground cavern that was unearthed during the initial stages of course construction.
“This is one of my favorite golf courses, there’s no question about it,” said Norman last year when talking about his design. “It’s a pleasure visually to go out there and play the game.”
The par-3s here get the most praise from visitors, even those from the PGA Tour. The seventh and 15th play to the edge of the Caribbean Sea with the sand and spray from the sea often in the air. One of the world’s largest coral reefs, Cozumel, can also be seen in the distance. It’s almost worth the trip alone.
