A brand new hotel has opened on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast with great access to some of the Cape Kaliakra region’s finest courses.

Hotel Antik offers accommodation in the resort Balchik, 30 minutes’ drive from the city of Varna, with stunning seafront location boasting fantastic views.

Each room is air-conditioned and features a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, while the hotel has a 24-hour reception and also provides car rental – vital for making trips to the local golf courses.

Cape Kaliakra offers a golfing experience different to that of Sofia’s – Bulgaria’s other main region – but is an equally enjoyable test.

Thracian-Cliffs

A long, narrow headland in the Southern Dobruja region, it sits up against the Black Sea coast and is characterised by steep, rugged, vertical cliffs.

What’s more, Varna airport just 45 minutes away. Or, alternatively, you can fly from Glasgow and Edinburgh to Burgas from mid-May to mid-September, with the transfer to the golf area being around 2hrs 45mins (and each Burgas arrival guest gets a free pint of top local beer for the transfer!)

Thracian Cliffs is, by some distance, the most famous of the region’s three courses. A Gary Player design, it is a former winner of ‘European Golf Resort of the Year’ and hosted the European Tour’s Volvo World Matchplay three years ago. It has been described as ‘Europe’s Pebble Beach’.

Another Gary Player course awaits visitors to BlackSeaRama. Named the world’s ‘Best New Course’ by a top US golf magazine in 2009, its sea views are truly majestic, whilst the on-site accommodation, dining and leisure facilities complete a superb experience.

Due to the region’s spiralling popularity, the top seasons are very busy so tour operators are advising all who would like to visit Bulgaria in the near future to book as soon as possible.

For all packages, there is a special 20-25% early booking discount if you book by the end of December 2016.
