Nine-hole golf

Encouraging more people to play more golf more often is a challenge that the game’s governing bodies have been continuously trying to find a solution for in recent times.

With more and more demands placed on the public’s time, fewer people are able to find the four hours it usually takes to enjoy a round of golf.

The best solution, for many, is to play nine instead of 18. Whether it’s on their own course or at a local nine-hole layout, golfers are still keen to play golf in its original format.

In this feature, we have picked out 18 of Scotland's finest nine-hole courses you have to try.

BROADLEES

broadleesgolf.co.uk

Nine holes £12

One of the newest courses in this feature, Broadlees only opened for business seven years ago but has become a well-established course amongst local golfers. That popularity can, in part, be put down to its high quality putting surfaces. All of the greens have been built to USGA standards, meaning winter greens should only be required in frosty conditions.

COMRIE

comriegolf.co.uk

Nine holes £15

Once described as ‘one of the finest and most scenic nine-hole courses in the UK’, the course at Comrie Golf Club is a heathland layout that offers magnificent views all around. Its third and fifth holes are the only two par-3s on the course, but are regularly described as the trickiest. Smart club selection is key to leaving with your score intact.
