The Belfry Hotel and Resort is celebrating after it won the award for England’s Best Golf Resort at the inaugural World Golf Awards.

A four-time host venue for the Ryder Cup, the resort fought off competition from some of the country’s leading resorts to take the prize.

The accolade caps off a successful 2014 for the resort, which has already won several awards from the industry following the £26million investment earlier in the year, including top honours at the annual 59Club Awards, where The Belfry was crowned ‘The Ultimate Golf Resort 2014’ as well as receiving the coveted ‘Gold Award’.

These major renovations aligned the hotel and spa facilities with the world-class golf on offer across The Belfry‘s impressive Brabazon, PGA National and Derby courses. The new look bedrooms, restaurants and bars all contribute to what is now a superb experience for guests.

“To once again receive such an accolade from key individuals within the industry, as well as the regular golfing consumers, is a fantastic honour for everyone,” said Ian Knox, director of golf at The Belfry.

“It is a well deserved achievement for everyone in the team, from the starters to the greenkeepers, who work tirelessly to provide the best possible experience for our guests.

“We are proud of our history and heritage within the game of golf and we now have facilities to position us amongst the best in the world. It’s great to be aligned with world’s best golf resorts and we must continue to work hard to ensure that we meet the exacting standards of every visitor and guest.”

‘The Belfry back among world’s best’

Chris Frost, managing director of the World Golf Awards, said: “We created the World Golf Awards in order to recognise excellence across the golf travel industry, from golf resorts, to courses, and tour operators.

“We want to emulate the standing of the World Travel Awards, which has been running for 21 years, and provide the ultimate gold standard for any leading golf resort or destination.

“Following the major investments at The Belfry, it has certainly proven itself to be back amongst the world’s best and has been a big hit with everyone across the industry.”
